My shop on the historic Bozeman Trail.
The following is a list (a slightly messed up list) of some of the more "commonly" used services available here at Bozeman Trail Arms Mfg. Since I'm sure I can do more things than I've listed here, you can E-mail for a free price quote for your particular situation or need, which is a good idea since I'm fairly specialized and I don't just do "everything and anything".
Also, I am now doing fire blued screws, and soon all sorts of other types of refinishing! The prices for fire bluing and refinishing are listed on the REFINISHING page.
NOTE: For those of you who E-mail me and ask questions; please remember, I delete ALL E-mail after I answer it because I get a TON of it! I average about 100 to 200 per day (lots of SPAM too)! All different people, different questions, and different guns. So, if you get back to me after we talk once or twice, please remember to REMIND me what we're talking about, OK? OK!
**Prices are still effective as of 31 August, 2009 and have remained mostly unchanged for 5 or 6 years.**
| ~ COWBOY SERVICES and PRICES ~ |
| Colt SAA, or clone, cap & balls, Remingtons, etc., "Ultimate" action (and trigger) job. Not so light as to compromise safety, reliability and functioning and but smooth like butter. | $175.00 |
| Replace an "early rising" (or broken) bolt and completely retime the gun. | $100.00 |
| Replace and fit a new hand/spring assembly and retime the gun. | $100.00 |
| Either "#2" or "#3" above, if INCLUDED with an action job (total price shown with action job, this is a savings of $25). | $250.00 |
| Open up rear pinched "V" sight of Colt clones to 'square shape' (.110 to .125") to facilitate sighting and re-color to blend (no nickel plated guns, it may peel nickel!). I do this in my milling machine now so it looks RIGHT. The price shown is if done with an action job because it will be disassembled $75 if done "a la carte". Also, for the record, this almost ALWAYS destroys the milling cutter because of the case hardening, hence the price! | $50.00 |
| Turn barrel for adjusting windage P.O.I. (I would highly recommend this if you have me open the rear sight). Test target with final results will be included. | $50.00 |
| Cut Forcing Cone to 11 degrees, recommended on any and ALL revolvers (even AWA's) for smaller, tighter group sizes, PERIOD! | $35.00 |
| New COLT front sight, barrel milled, silver-soldered, shaped and barrel reblued. No nickel plating available from me, and re-adjusting point of impact is extra (this price does NOT include any custom welding for a previously buggered up sight slot!). | $175.00 |
| Weld and recut broken hammer notches (1/4, 1/2, full cock) and refit (retime) to action (Colt hammers). Please add $25 if you want to reweld an original trigger back to length. This is done with TIG and A2 tool steel welding rod. NOTE: Gunsmith fitting back to the gun for timing IS required and included as is the postage back and forth to my welder. | $140.00 |
| Colt, or clone, FIT a 1st, 2nd or 3rd. gen. cylinder to the frame when a new bushing is required to be fit (new bushing [@$20] or cyl. NOT incl.) to get rid of endshake. | $50.00 |
| Colt, or clone, FIT a new barrel (barrel NOT incl., and if set back is needed, not inc. either.) | $50.00 |
| Set back barrel one thread (and ejector rod housing) to tighten up barrel/cylinder gap. Front sight set at "12 o'clock". Colts and clones only. (Re-adjusting point of impact additional $50) | $100.00 |
| Install/stake (replacement) recoil plate (firing pin bushing) in Colts. (part included) | $100.00 |
| Rechamber *your* cylinder to .44-40 or .45 LC from .357 or .32.20 (no stainless steel). These two calibers only. You'll probably want to have the cylinder rebuffed and reblued after this operation (not incl.) | $175.00 |
| Re-ream COLT .44-40 cyl.; Do your *PROPERLY* sized .44-40 rounds not drop into the chamber? Do they have to be forced in with your thumb? I've seen a lot of this with Colts lately. This is usually the cure! | $75.00 |
| RUGER VAQUERO (Blackhawk, New Vaquero, et al) Action Job, includes Wolff's spring kit, plus lots more! | $125.00 |
| Ream, hone (enlarge) the tight chamber mouths of RUGER cylinders that are tighter than the bore.(per cylinder) | $75.00 |

Can we talk a moment? Are you "afraid" to join the N.R.A, J.P.F.O., or Gun Owners of America? Do you think they're just TOO RADICAL?? Do you think that maybe even they don't do ENOUGH? Well, aren't you afraid you might have your GUNS a/o AMMUNITION taken away? Oh NO? Check out what JUST happened in England and Australia and Canada, and NOW every other week in California!! Not to mention what our brothers at the U.N. want to pull off. And NOT just "evil" so called assault rifles either! This isn't (and never really has been, as we now know) the paranoid ravings of madmen!! It CAN and WILL happen here if we don't ALL do our part! Remember, our firearms are the ONLY reason we have the 13 amendments!! And the 2nd one was meant to facilitate protecting all of the others. Do you really think politicians of today wouldn't "sacrifice" your rights for the "common good", on just a whim? Get REAL! PLEASE, think about it!
I personally feel that if your NOT a member of the N.R.A., you don't DESERVE to own guns......PERIOD! Like 'em or not they are the largest, most powerful and well organized gun lobby group around.
So PLEASE Join the N.R.A., J.P.F.O., Or the Gun Owners of America.........or SOME Pro-gun organization!!!
Just DO IT!
